You know, I always thought this was a quotation from Winston Churchill.  Apparently not.  It's from a book "The Woman in White". 



Another quotation - might be from Churchill:  

Lady Nancy Astor:  Winston, if you were my husband, I'd poison your tea.  
Churchill: Nancy, if I were your husband, I'd drink it.
