Qingming is a Chinese holiday on the 15th day after spring equinox. You may be more familiar with it referred to as "Tomb sweeping day". Every year Qingming coincides with a considerable drop in price in some green teas. Basically, it's because of the rains, but the line is drawn on this day: the green teas made from leaves picked before this date are given the prestigious "pre-gingming" designation. The teas picked after the festival (having a much lighter and subtler aroma) will have a lower price tag.
